Deep Clean vs Standard Clean: What Is Actually Different
A task-by-task comparison, when each one is the right call, and what the price difference actually buys.
A standard clean maintains a home that is already in reasonable condition. A deep clean resets one that is not.
A deep clean adds four things to the standard scope. Oven and microwave interiors. Hand-washed reachable baseboards and trim. Detailed kitchen and bathroom surfaces. reachable interior window glass, sills and tracks. That premium runs roughly 60 to 75 percent depending on home size.
You genuinely need a deep clean in five situations. Starting recurring service after a six-month gap. Before listing a house. After heating season. After illness. And when moving into a home someone else lived in. Outside those, standard is usually enough.

The one-line version
A standard clean maintains a home that is already in reasonable condition. A deep clean resets a home that is not.
That sounds obvious, but the practical distinction is narrower than most people expect. Both services clean the same rooms. The difference is a specific set of extra tasks and the amount of time spent on built-up grime rather than surface dirt.
What a standard clean covers
Kitchen and bathroom surfaces, floors, small trash bins, light dusting of reachable blinds and baseboards, and ordinary loose pet hair. It is the maintenance rhythm: the work that keeps a home from sliding backwards.
A standard clean is the right choice when the home has been cleaned within the last month or two and nothing has been badly neglected. It is also what every recurring visit uses after the first one.
What a deep clean adds
Everything in the standard scope, plus:
- Oven and microwave interiors. The single biggest time cost, and the task people most consistently underestimate.
- Hand-washed reachable baseboards and trim. Not dusted. Washed, which is a different job and removes the grey line that dusting leaves behind.
- Detailed kitchen and bathroom surfaces. Cabinet fronts, grout lines, faucet bases, hard water film, the areas where buildup accumulates rather than sits.
- reachable interior window glass, sills and tracks.
The time difference is not small. A deep clean on the same home usually takes considerably longer than the standard visit, which is what the price reflects.
What it costs, side by side
Using published Everpine prices, one-time standard against deep:
A one-time standard clean starts at $185 and a deep clean at $220 both for a home up to 1,000 sq ft, stepping up every 250 sq ft. See the full price list.
Roughly a 60 to 75 percent premium, depending on size. That premium is buying labour hours on the four categories above, not a different cleaning philosophy.
When you actually need the deep clean
There are five situations where it is genuinely the right call rather than an upsell:
- Starting recurring service after a long gap. If nobody has done a thorough clean in six months or more, a standard first visit will look like it did not work. The maintenance scope was never designed to remove built-up grime.
- Before listing a house. Photographs are unforgiving about oven glass and grout.
- Seasonally, after heating season. Particularly in mountain homes with a wood stove, where a season of ash settles into trim and window glass.
- After illness in the house.
- Moving into a home someone else lived in, where you want the interiors done before you unpack.
Outside of those, standard is usually enough, and the money is better spent on cleaning more often rather than more intensively once.
The pattern most people end up with
One deep clean to establish a baseline, then recurring standard visits to hold it. This works out cheaper over a year than repeated one-time cleans, because recurring visits are priced below one-time visits from visit two onward.
For a 1,751 to 2,000 sq ft home, that is $335 for the deep reset, then $205 every two weeks or $250 every four weeks after. Your first standard visit uses the one-time rate for your size; the recurring rate applies from visit two.
There is no long-term contract required, and extras are priced separately rather than discounted with frequency. If the scope of your home is unusual, oversized, or badly neglected, that needs an agreed scope first rather than an online booking.
Common questions
Can I book a deep clean online?
Yes, for the routine scope and size limits shown. Homes over 4,500 sq ft, severe neglect, construction residue and restoration work need a specialty request so the scope can be agreed before you commit.
Do I need a deep clean every time?
No. Most homes need one deep clean to establish a baseline and then hold it with recurring standard visits. Repeating a deep clean makes sense seasonally at most, or after a long gap in service.
Will the price change once you see the house?
No added work or price change proceeds without your approval. Giving accurate size, condition and access details at booking is what keeps the quoted total accurate.
Still not sure which one you need?
Describe the condition of the house. We'll tell you honestly which service fits, including when the cheaper one is enough.
